Art 200X Introduction Blog
Hello everyone, my name is Forrest. I'm a sophomore in college, or so my credits tell me. I'm not sure what the instructions for the introduction are, so I'll say I've lived in Alaska my whole life. It's been a good time. It's a great state. I'm part of the Fairbanks Red Hackle Bagpipe Band if you've ever heard them play. I'm not the biggest music person, but the bagpipes are a fun instrument to play, and everyone's take on them is fun to hear. I'm also a fan of board games since they were something I was raised on more or less.
Here's a hyperlinked YouTube video. I'm sure everyone can guess what it is.
My relationship with art - at least visual art - is rather distant. I taught myself to draw recently, but I barely do it. It was more of something I wanted to learn, but I'll still have to continue to do it to keep up the skill. I don't really go to art museums - or even museums in general at all. I have no idea what First Fridays are either. The most art I own is a sketch a friend made a while back that he gave me, and the random art project or two everyone did back in elementary.
I'd hyperlink DeviantArt as a website that relates to the arts, but the content there can be colorful sometimes.
I suppose if I broaden the definition of art to include writing too that could count? While Wattpad is basically DeviantArt but for stories, it's much less prone to colorful works than DeviantArt.
Forrest,
ReplyDeleteI have to say that I am surprised. This certainly was a somewhat vague and straight forward description of art and your relationship with it.
I am glad that you are promoting your piping roots and hope that you broaden your horizons with the art world and perhaps experience someone's First Friday.
Rick Astley was certainly a surprising twist on this entry of yours.
Thank you for directing me to your blog.
Sean Rover
You don't do First Fridays?? I bought a painting by your mom at a First Friday event back in the day. Dang!!!! I got Rick Rolled! I know about Deviant Art, but not WattPad. Thanks for the introduction.

ReplyDeleteFirstly I would like to sincerely thank you for the hyperlinked video, it made my day. Also, yeah DeviantArt has some very cool art, but also some very "interesting" sections. I look forward to seeing how or if your relationship with art changes over the length of this course.
Hi Forrest!
ReplyDeleteWe seem to have a really similar relationship with art, as we both have never heard of First Fridays, and don't seem to own much artworks. I am also familiar with both Deiant Art and Wattpad, and I really liked how you branched out art into writing! (As I enjoy stories and poems just as much art)
